Bansaj Privacy Policy

Bansaj (वंशज) is a platform for recording Nepali family lineages, operated by Vardan Soft (vardansoft.com.np). In this policy, “we” means Vardan Soft. This policy explains what we collect, how it is used, and the choices you have. It covers the Bansaj website, the Bansaj apps, and the Bansaj connector for Claude.

What we collect

Family-tree records. Names, gender, relationships, and optional details such as dates of birth and death, address, occupation, photos, email and phone number that members add about themselves and their relatives.
Account information. If you sign in, your name, email address and profile picture from your VardanSoft account.
Technical data. Standard server logs (IP address, user agent, time of request) and error reports, kept to operate and secure the service.

How we use it

We use family-tree records to show lineages and let people search them. Email addresses and phone numbers are never shown publicly or searchable; only the person and the members who can edit their record see them. We use account information to let you sign in and manage records you contributed. We use technical data to keep the service running, prevent abuse and fix errors. We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for advertising.

The Bansaj connector for Claude

The connector at https://app.bansaj.pitam.com.np/mcp lets Claude search people and read family trees on your behalf. It is read-only and needs no sign-in. It returns only information that is already publicly visible on Bansaj (name, gender, age, living status, occupation, address and relationships). It cannot create, change or delete anything.

When Claude calls the connector, we receive the search text or person id that Claude sends, plus standard request logs. We do not receive your Claude conversations, your Claude account details, or anything else from Claude. Your use of Claude is governed by Anthropic's own privacy policy.

Retention

Family-tree records are kept until the contributor or the person concerned asks us to change or remove them. Server and connector request logs are kept for up to 30 days.

Your choices

You can ask us to correct or remove information about you or a relative by emailing support@vardansoft.com.np. We will respond within 30 days.

Sharing

We share data only with service providers that host and operate Bansaj (cloud hosting, storage, error monitoring and email delivery), or when required by law.
